About DC, Gluten Free!
There is a lot of info about gluten free eating in DC. There is a lot of information about DC. But there is very little from the perspective of anyone who lives, plays, and works here 365 days a year. DC is my home. I love it here (except the in the summer.) I want to share my thoughts about being gluten-free, my favorite places to eat in and around the city, reviews of foods and restaurants, my favorite recipes for cooking on a 20-something budget, and so much much more.
I’m Amelia, and I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease right before my senior year of college in 2008. That was also the year of the Democratic National Convention–and I headed out on the road, for a 3 day (each way!) drive to Denver, CO to be in the middle of it all. To say that I was overwhelmed is an understatement. I barely knew what was safe, and eating on the road? Let’s just say I had A LOT of Wendy’s salad’s and baked potatoes. I did ok, though. And since then, I’ve learned a lot and I’m ready to share my journey.
